Building Cultural Tourism Through Performing Art Festivals

Oregon Shakespeare Festival Directors to present at UO

In partnership with the Center for Community Arts and Cultural Policy, AAD is pleased to present a public lecture by Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Paul Nicholson, Executive Director and Bill Rauch, Artistic Director, on Friday, February 3 at 9:00-2:00 PM at the Arts and Administration Department, room 249. Nicholson and Rauch will make a public presention on the role of performing arts festivals in cultural tourism, as exemplified by the OSF.
This leading management team will discuss the role of performing art festivals in cultural tourism, as exemplified by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Founded in 1935, the Tony Award winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is among the oldest and largest professional nonprofit theaters in the nation. Operating on a budget exceeding $26 million, OSF presents more than 780 performances annually with attendance of approximately 400,000. The festival has established the city of Ashland as a cultural destination in Oregon, attracting tourists from across the world.

Experience in Education

Since early age I have an interest to teach and develop teaching methods to help friends in their learning processes.

Before my daughter was born I started to study children’s development and teaching in order to help with her education.

In 1996, I entered the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), through a national contest, to the history department in order to pursue a licentiate. At the history department I studied sociology, anthropology, Brazilian and contemporary world history, European medieval history, psychology, and research methods.

Due to my new responsibilities as a mother I decided to stop my course at the UFRJ, in order to dedicate more time to the education of my daughter. We moved to a smaller city in the state of Espirito Santo and while I was a full-time mother Continue reading

In this plan, you will be able to find information about the “Design Challenge” proposed by the Children’s Creativity Museum (CCM) and some elements that I consider while managing an art program. I designed the mock programs based on the museum’s mission and vision.

Title: Create-a-thon!

Description:

The idea is to encourage people to create with anything in their lives. To prove that through constant practice, creativity is unlimited like a water fountain. To encourage families to compose with different supplies, colors and shapes without predetermined goals other than to come up with “something” aesthetic without fear to experiment.
