The purpose of this site

casamento13-06-08 red 600px (23)As an arts administrator I work with marketing, public relations, strategic planning, implementation and program evaluation. I can work with development, cultural mapping and as a consultant.

I have experience with educational programming and organizing art shows. I am motivated to work in different cultural sectors such as museums, non-profit organizations, and cultural events in music, film, dance, theater and exhibitions.

Here you will be able to find pictures, documents and texts related to my experience as an arts manager. There is information involving events, community cultural management, marketing, education, and my research and trajectory while a Master’s candidate at the University of Oregon Arts Administration Dept.

The site is in a progressive reconstruction and little by little I will keep enhancing it for the best use of the individuals and organizations I work with.

Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions for the improvement of the present site.

Thank you very much!

A little about my work philosophy

As a creative manager I believe in mutual creativity feeding and cultural democracy. In other words my creative ideas grow from the complex processes that involve research, observation and interaction with the prime matters that constitute the pieces I have to compose with. The practice is fed by a system of interactions among people and ideas, the ingredients for success.

As an artist and manager I research the assets, initiating the knowledge of the field through the design and study of a cultural inventory; I learn with the community, the best strategies to access and reach the assets; I work with people and places, and analyze the best ways to connect with them. The directions for this “recipe” are organically structured with space for the necessary intuition and sensibility to build alliances. The paths are founded in some basic democratic principles to guarantee the success of the final product, that in fact never ends, only improves.

A little about me

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, a city of approximately six million people, with a pluralistic cultural scene, history, architecture and economic barriers that drastically separate people. Friends and family stimulated my art works, providing me the first crayons, poetries, paints, and crafts. They gave me access to the best of movies, songs, and folklore of my own culture and foreign ones.

In 1994, I entered Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) as an undergraduate history student, and I engaged myself in the educational program at the National Museum of Quinta da Boa Vista, RJ. As the first intern of the project, I studied Brazilian and American archeology and ancient European and Asian history and served as an interpreter of the museum collection to school teachers.

Four years later, I moved with my daughter to Vitoria city. I enrolled in the Universidade Federal of Espirito Santo (UFES) in the Visual Arts and Art Education Program.
